The operationalisation of the African Continental Free Trade Area, representing a 1.3 billion-person market with a combined gross domestic product of 3.4 trillion dollars, faces a practical bottleneck: the absence of integrated cross-border financial mechanics for green enterprise. The African Export-Import Bank and the African Development Bank are moving to bridge this gap by aligning their complementary institutional mandates. While the African Development Bank focuses on long-term physical infrastructure, energy systems, and capital de-risking, Afreximbank delivers targeted trade credit, guarantees, export financing, and transaction settlement structures. Central to this coordination is the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System, which permits cross-border commercial transactions in local African currencies,
