Nigeria Gas Infrastructure Investment Reaches ₦1.6 Trillion Through Public Capital De-Risking
A targeted public equity deployment of ₦671 billion has unlocked ₦1.6 trillion in private co-investment across 31 strategic midstream projects, accelerating Nigeria's domestic energy transition and industrial gas access.

The Midstream and Downstream Gas Infrastructure Fund has mobilized ₦1.6 trillion in private capital over a twenty-month period, marking a structural shift in how the country finances its energy transition. By deploying ₦671 billion in targeted public equity and concessionary risk-sharing instruments, the fund achieved a 2.4-fold use ratio on private sector capital participation. This strategic push in Nigeria gas infrastructure investment demonstrates how sovereign catalytic funds can bridge the persistent gap between energy supply and domestic market demand.
The capital allocation supports 31 project partnerships encompassing 205 midstream and downstream infrastructure assets nationwide. Project execution is moving rapidly across multiple geopolitical zones: 127 assets have already entered construction, with 10 assets fully commissioned and active.
Upon full operationalization, this asset portfolio will deliver 475 million standard cubic feet (scf) of natural gas daily into domestic industrial, power, and commercial networks. This volume represents a 25 percent increase over Nigeria's baseline domestic gas supply of roughly 1.9 billion scf per day.
