Whitley Awards 2027 for Grassroots Conservation Leaders (£50,000 prize)

Applicants must meet the following criteria: - Must be grassroots conservation leaders who are nationals of the country where they work (born there or long-term resident with national status) and embedded in local communities. - Work must be based in an eligible country (not classified as a High-Income Economy by the World Bank). - Must work for a locally incorporated NGO, charity, not-for-profit, or university. Individuals working in isolation or joint entries are not eligible. - Projects must deliver measurable positive impacts for threatened ecosystems and biodiversity at the landscape or seascape level, while providing tangible benefits to Indigenous peoples and local communities. - Must be able to communicate verbally in English without a translator for interviews, media, and networking events. - Must demonstrate strong leadership, evidence-based approaches, value for money, and long-term project sustainability.
