About this opportunity
Western University's Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, located in London, Ontario, Canada, offers a broad range of undergraduate and graduate study options. Combining engineering education with research, industry connections, sustainability, emerging technologies, and real-world project experience, the department provides accredited undergraduate degrees as well as graduate programs leading to Master of Engineering (MEng), Master of Engineering Science (MESc), and PhD degrees.
Undergraduate students complete a Common First Year before selecting their Civil Engineering specialization. Available undergraduate options and concurrent pathways include Structural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, International Development (with Structural or Environmental Engineering), Civil Engineering and Business, Civil Engineering and Law, as well as Artificial Intelligence Systems Engineering (AISE) & Smart Cities combined with Structural or Environmental Engineering. A major feature of the International Development option is the Summer Community Development Placement and Design Project, offering practical experience in Canada or developing countries such as Madagascar, The Gambia, Ghana, China, and India. All undergraduate programs include a fourth-year capstone design experience addressing real-world engineering challenges.
At the graduate level, Western offers three main degree pathways: the Master of Engineering (MEng), a professional graduate degree that can be completed in 12 months (3 terms) full-time or part-time, with specializations in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering, Structural and Infrastructural Engineering, and Smart Cities; the Master of Engineering Science (MESc); and the PhD program.
