Call for Expressions of Interest: Research on Black Carbon Exposure Reduction in Cold-Climate Settings

The Clean Air Fund invites expressions of interest for research studies focused on evaluating the reduction of black carbon emissions and their health and climate impacts through cleaner technologies in cold-climate settings of low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The studies should assess interventions in space heating and industry, aiming to provide evidence-based recommendations for black carbon emission reduction strategies.

This opportunity aims to support research that evaluates the real-world effectiveness of black carbon-reducing technologies in cryosphere regions. The focus is on interventions in space heating and industry, with an emphasis on understanding community acceptance to ensure sustainable adoption. The research should contribute to shaping future policies and investment opportunities for clean technology adoption in LMICs.

Priority technologies include zero emission technologies, electrification, renewable thermal integration, advanced heat recovery, low-carbon fuel substitutions, and energy efficiency measures. Studies focused on cooking interventions, toxicological or mechanistic studies, and randomized controlled trials are not eligible.
