About this opportunity

The World Food Programme (WFP), in partnership with the Adaptation Fund, has launched the third edition of the Adaptation Fund Climate Innovation Accelerator (AFCIA) in Latin America and the Caribbean. Extreme weather events like droughts, floods, storms, and rising temperatures are severely impacting food systems, disrupting food production, and increasing food insecurity in climate-vulnerable communities across the region.

Implemented by WFP, AFCIA aims to identify, support, and scale innovative solutions originating from or applicable to Latin America and the Caribbean—specifically focusing on the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, and Peru. The initiative targets innovations that strengthen community resilience, improve food security, and assist vulnerable populations in adapting to climate change. Selected innovators will participate in a nine-month Sprint programme equipped with funding and support to scale their solutions.

Who Can Apply

Applicants must meet the following criteria: - Must be an established legal entity (for-profit, not-for-profit, social business, NGO, INGO). - Must have an established presence (country office, subsidiary, long-term operations, or formal partnerships) in at least one of the implementation countries: Dominican Republic, El Salvador, or Peru. - Innovation must address priority challenges in the climate adaptation space in the country of implementation. - Innovation must be at least at the seed stage (solutions in the idea, research, or early pre-seed stage are ineligible). - Must demonstrate a clear pathway to scale, adequate resources, and a viable implementation plan for the nine-month Sprint. - Willingness and strong intention to collaborate with humanitarian stakeholders, WFP country offices, and local innovation ecosystems.
