About this opportunity
Algalita is offering Student Mini-Grants to support innovative projects tackling plastic pollution at local levels. Open to students aged 11 to 25 globally, the initiative provides $500 per project to empower youth-led solutions focused on the root causes of plastic waste. A total of 10 grants will be awarded for the 2026β2027 school year.
The Student Mini-Grants aim to empower young individuals to address plastic pollution by supporting projects that educate and engage communities on sustainable practices. Algalita encourages initiatives that promote long-term change and increase awareness of plastic pollution as a production issue, rather than just a litter problem.
Each selected project receives $500 in funding, mentorship from an adult advisor, and support from Algalita staff. Grantees will also have opportunities for social media collaboration and participation in a global network of young environmental leaders.
Eligible activity areas include campus reuse systems, Fix-It Clinics or repair cafΓ©s, cleanup campaigns with data collection, educational workshops, policy advocacy, and creative arts projects. Projects funded through this initiative contribute to a broader movement towards sustainable practices and environmental justice.
