About this opportunity

The FAO Internship Programme is a learning opportunity aimed at attracting talented young women and men who are strongly motivated to share their new perspectives, innovative ideas and latest research experience in FAO’s domains. The programme provides selected students enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate degree programme, or recent graduates, with the opportunity to supplement their academic knowledge with practical work experience in a field related to the work of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

Interns work alongside experts on projects that promote sustainable food systems, environmental protection, and global nutrition security. Through this experience, interns deepen their understanding of FAO’s global role in eradicating hunger and supporting sustainable livelihoods, while contributing to FAO Strategic Objectives and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Once selected, FAO interns receive a monthly stipend in local currency, not exceeding US$700, to support living expenses. Sponsored interns receive financial support directly from their sponsoring institutions. The duration of an FAO internship typically ranges from 3 to 11 months, depending on the assignment and department needs.
