About this opportunity

UN Women is establishing a HeForShe Barbershop Facilitator Consultant Roster to maintain a pool of qualified and pre-vetted experts for the delivery and contextual adaptation of the HeForShe Barbershop Toolkit across different countries, languages, and communities.

The Barbershop Toolkit is a participatory HeForShe programme designed to engage men and boys in discussions around gender equality, equitable masculinities, and social norms, utilizing the Transforming Patriarchal Masculinities (TPM) approach.

This is a home-based, primarily remote consultancy opportunity managed within UN Women's Strategic Partnerships Division (Private Sector Partnerships Section). While work is mostly virtual, consultants may be required to undertake short-term in-person facilitation assignments, field missions, or national/international travel depending on programme needs.

Inclusion in the roster does not guarantee immediate employment or assignments; experts are engaged on an as-needed basis. Key responsibilities include:

1. Completing mandatory, uncompensated Barbershop onboarding webinars (at least 80% attendance required; up to 10 hours/year).

2. Reviewing and adapting standard Barbershop session materials to local language, socio-cultural context, and partner requirements, submitting final adapted materials at least 7 working days prior to delivery.

3. Delivering standardized Barbershop sessions to groups of men and boys.

4. Reporting, monitoring, and knowledge sharing.

Barbershop Toolkit sessions are expected to begin in Q4 2026. Consultants will report to the Partnerships Engagement and Special Initiatives Advisor and Global Head of HeForShe.

Who Can Apply

Professionals with expertise in gender equality, equitable masculinities, male allyship, social norm change, human rights, training, and community engagement. Facilitators must be able to adapt curriculum to local socio-cultural contexts, languages, and specific setting requirements.
