The Leibniz Institute for Educational Media | Georg Eckert Institute (GEI) is inviting applications for the Georg Arnhold Senior Fellowship for Education for Sustainable Peace 2028. The prestigious fellowship supports experienced scholars and practitioners undertaking research or practice-oriented projects focused on peace education, educational media, and curriculum development.

The six-month fellowship will be hosted at the GEI in Brunswick, Germany, and provides a monthly stipend of €3,300, return economy airfare, research resources, mentoring, and professional networking opportunities. The fellowship focuses particularly on educational media and curricula used at the secondary-school level, although applicants may address relevant educational media in different forms and geographical contexts.

The selected fellow will undertake a substantial project addressing education for sustainable peace, participate actively in the Institute's daily academic environment, present their research at GEI colloquia, and produce a substantial project output (such as policy papers, educational materials, or scholarly publications) published no later than one year after the fellowship ends.

Who Can Apply

The fellowship welcomes outstanding scholars and experienced practitioners working in peace education. - Academic applicants must hold a PhD and demonstrate a strong research profile in a relevant discipline, including the humanities, political and social sciences, or education. - Practitioner applicants must demonstrate at least five years of advanced professional achievement in the field (e.g., significant international experience in peace education, NGO management, or related areas). - Applicants combining academic expertise with practical and grassroots experience are particularly relevant.

How to Apply

Eligible applicants must submit their application through the official GEI application portal before the deadline. Applicants must complete an online application describing their proposed project, including objectives, research gap, theoretical and methodological framework, and expected outcomes. Any use of artificial intelligence in application preparation must be fully disclosed. Following internal pre-selection of up to 10 candidates, the Academic Advisory Board will shortlist 3 finalists who will be invited to submit a detailed proposal (max 25 pages) and participate in an online interview.
